UK SIM-only comparison · July 2026

Best SIM-only deals without the small-print fog.

Compare the monthly price, usable data, contract length, underlying network and roaming allowance—not just the biggest number in the advert.

The short answer

SMARTY’s 70GB rolling plan at £9 was the standout data bargain when checked. 1pMobile’s 50GB for £10 is our value pick for people who want EE-powered coverage and included EU roaming. Choose Lebara’s 30GB for £10 when international minutes matter. Coverage at your home, workplace and regular journeys should decide any close call.

How to choose a SIM-only deal

1. Check coverage first

A cheaper plan is poor value if coverage struggles at home, work or on your commute. Check the underlying network’s postcode map.

2. Use your real data history

Look at the previous three months in your phone settings or network app. Paying for unused unlimited data rarely makes sense.

3. Read the limits

Check contract length, annual rises, speed caps, roaming fair-use rules, tethering and what happens when the allowance runs out.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best SIM-only deal in the UK?

It depends on coverage and data use. SMARTY offered the strongest data-per-pound figure in this shortlist when checked, while 1pMobile suited buyers wanting EE-powered coverage and Lebara was strongest for included international minutes.

Can I keep my mobile number?

Yes. Text PAC to 65075 from your old SIM, then give the code to the new provider. Do not cancel the old service before the transfer completes.

Is a rolling SIM better than a contract?

A rolling plan is safer when you are unsure about coverage or your data needs. A longer contract may secure a better price, but check its early-exit and price-change terms first.

Are these rankings sponsored?

No. Providers cannot pay to move up the ranking. Some links may become affiliate links after programme approval, but commercial relationships do not determine inclusion or order.
